I think its safe to say that most of us have experienced our fair share
of crappy dates, that can hit the hip pocket. Dates these days can be
so boring and very traditional in some senses. This article is designed
to bring your creative spark back to life without going overboard on
the budget. I hope you've got your adventure shoes on because lifes
about being adventurous.
1. Picnics
Seriously the easiest option in my books, plus you get to eat while
you're there. Don't be afraid to get creative, search around you
place for anything that can be made into a table or teepee...
seriously will take it to the next level.
You'll need:
A View
Blanket (recommended)
Basket (optional)
Food (cheese, dip and biscuits are usually a crowd pleaser)
Wine (but do not drink and drive)
Pillows
Music (a guitar always always satisfies, although
a boom box will do the trick)
2. Stand Up Paddle Boarding
One for everybody adventurous side, you simply can't go wrong with a
Stand Up Paddle Board date.
With hire places usually renting out SUPs for between $10 - $20/hour
it's a sweet deal, plus you'll get a ton of laughs out of the experience.
3. Cook Together (with music)
Now this one is one of my favourites, simply yet effective.
Whether it's making a pizza, nachos or cooking a BBQ down at the
beach watching a glorious sunset, it's as simple as it gets.
This date can be really fun and you'll learn a lot about each other,
but don't forget the wine..... you'll thank me later ;)
4. Drive in Movies
Now the Drive Ins are one of everyone favourites even if you won't
admit it. Costing pretty much the same price as an ordinary movie
ticket at your local theatre, except now you can add your own style
and twist to the experience.
If you're well prepared you'll take:
A Mattress (works perfectly in a UTE)
Pillows
Blankets
Lollies and Drink (cheaper to buy at Woolies/ Coles)
5. Sunrise/ Sunset
The 'Golden Hours' of the day are the best parts of the day in my
opinion. So why not take advantage of mother nature in her finest
hours.
Try and find a spot with some sort of view to watch the sun rise/ set,
otherwise if you can find a spot where you can see the sun hit the
horizon... that'll do.
P.S. A coffee of hot chocolate will always improves the experience
ten fold.
6. Waterfalls
Don't go chasing waterfalls they say, well.... you're missing
out. Seriously one of the easiest day trips, will only really cost
you some fuel and maybe a picnic for when you get to the
waterfall.
Simply jump on the old google and figure out where the
closest waterfall is to your location and jump in the car.
Don'f Forget to pack your walking shoes, a towel and
your bathers. Get your explorer out in you.
7. Camping
Ooo now we're getting interesting! If you've got the gear to go
camping, theres nothing quite like having a good ol yarn over the
camp fire underneath the stars.
Saying that a fire in your own back yard is just as good, with a lot
less hassle if you are short on time. this date is sure to pleas anyone,
especially in the winter months when those temperatures start to drop.
Just don't forget the marsh-mellows!
8. Snorkeling
Most people usually have a snorkel set lying around the house,
this can be an easy way to get out and about. Most coastlines
usually have some kind of seaway/ breakwall you can snorkel from,
otherwise check out your local rock pools and beaches for any
snorkelling potential.
